Financial Support for Participants from Eastern Europe:

Thanks to the Global Fund for Women, financial support is available for transgender activists from

  • Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) / former Soviet union (fSU)
  • South-eastern Europe (Former SR Yugoslavia)
  • Central- and Eastern Europe
  • The new central European EU member states.
Indicate on your registration form that you wish to receive financial support, and answer the questions about your involvement with transgender activism below. Without this information we will not process your request for financial support.

Please read the details below on reimbursement and what can be financed carefully!

Please note that the Council language is English.

Funds are limited, and applying does not guarantee that you will receive funding. The sooner you register, the better your chances are. The deadline for all registrations is April 21st.
Visa
If you need a visa, please indicate this on your registration form and provide your passport details. You must also answer the questions about your involvement with transgender activism (see below). Without this information we will not process your request for support for visa.

Questions on transgender-activism
Due to limited funding, we are not able to cover all of the requests which we receive for financial support. It is important for us that transgender activists and groups with limited resources, and particularly from regions with little transgender infrastructure, are able to participate in the Transgender Council. Therefore, we ask you to please answer the following questions to enable us to understand your situation and the situation in your country and region. The more precise your answers are, the better basis we have for our decision.
  • What is the situation of transgender people in your country/ city?
  • In which way(s) are you/ your organization related to transgender and/ or transgender activist work?
  • If you are with an organization, how many transgender people are members of, or otherwise involved with, your organization? How many trans*people benefit directly from your social/ political work, and in what ways?
  • Please give a brief description of the work that you do for/ with transgender people, including examples of current situations.
What can be financed
  • International travel costs
  • Accommodation in Berlin
  • Visa costs
  • Food served at Council
We may not be able to cover your total costs. Please give your estimated costs as soon as possible. We ask you to make economical travel arrangements.

Reimbursement
NB! The reimbursement will take place in cash at the Council only upon presentation of original ticket(s) and receipt(s) with your costs printed on them. There will be no reimbursement without these documents. Please also bring a copy of your receipt(s) and ticket(s) for us to keep for our records. We will not transfer money before the Council.

Your Contribution
Organising an international council is expensive. The European Transgender Council is a community-based not-for-profit event, and it depends heavily on donations. If you want to show your support by paying all, or part, of the conference fee or any other amount which you can afford, we would be very grateful. Any amount is welcome and goes directly to support the Council.
