Steering Committee of TGEU
The Board and Steering Committee of TGEU was elected at the 2nd European Transgender Council in Berlin. Board and Steering Committee serve for a two year term. For more information on their tasks please refer to our statutes.
The next Board and Steering Committee will be elected at the Third Council in Malmo in Autumn 2010.

Julia is 32 years old and has been a trans-activist for moany years.She is a board member of the Berlin based organisation TransInterQueer and was one of the main organizers of the Transgender Council in Berlin in May 2008. At the moment she is working on the reform of the German trans-legislation.

Dr. Carsten Balzer/Carla LaGata

Working Areas: International Relations and Research
Carla LaGata/Carsten Balzer, PhD, MA, 42, is a bigendered cultural anthropologist and trans activist. S_he researched the transgender subcultures of Rio de Janeiro, New York City, and Berlin and wrote hir Dissertational Thesis on the emancipatory processes of trans people. S_he co-founded the Transgender Network Berlin TGNB, is chairing the TGNB’s Scientific Advisory Board, and is co-editing its Journal “Liminalis – A Journal For Sex/Gender Emancipation and Resistance”. S_he participated in the 1st European Transgender Council in Vienna, and since then has supported the international campaigns of TGEU. S_he was one of the organisers of the 2nd TGEU Council in Berlin.
Richard Köhler

Richard Köhler (29) is a Programme Officer with Ilga Europe on a project supporting the LGBT movement in Russia. His started his transgender activism in Berlin. His special regional focus lays on Eastern Europe and the Country of Independent States - CIS.
Pia Nielsen

Working area: Finance mangement and fund raising, Membership Development
Pia Nielsen was born in 1959 in Denmark as a man, but lives fulltime as a woman. She is diagnosed as a transsexual, which has made it possible for her officially to change to a female first name. She has been Financial Director in a number of large Danish companies and presently as Denmark’s only transgender Managing Director. She is interested in all transgender related items but especially in matters on workplace related issues. She is a board member of the Danish association for transvestites and transsexuals called Trans-Danmark.She is the coeditor of a book called Gender Identity which Trans-Danmark will issue by the end of 2008.
Philippa Ryder

James Morton

James is the Project Coordinator with the Scottish Transgender Allience at the Scottish Equality Network. James joined the Steering Committee in Summer 2009 to replace Rosanna, who had to give up her post in the steering committee due to a high work load at her job.
