TGEU is pleased to announce a total investment of €90,000 in five trans-led organisations across the EU through the 2026 Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) initiative under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The five selected organisations will each receive €18,000 over a six-month period to strengthen community-led initiatives advancing the rights, wellbeing, and resilience of diverse trans communities in the EU.

The five selected projects this year underline the importance of resourcing trans-led organising at a time of rising opposition, backlash, and limited funding. The initiatives are carried out by trans-led member organisations based in…

Meet our 2026 subgrant partners

Transparent, Czechia

Transparent is a trans-led organisation working to advance the rights, wellbeing, and inclusion of trans people in Czechia through community support, advocacy, research, and public education. The organisation has played an important role in efforts to improve legal gender recognition (LGR) and access to rights, including contributing to the removal of the forced sterilisation requirement in 2024.

Through their project, Legal Protection and Access to Rights for Trans Migrants and Refugees in Czechia, Transparent will address critical gaps in information, legal support, and institutional awareness affecting trans refugees and migrants. The initiative responds to the growing need for accessible pathways to LGR and protection for trans people navigating migration and asylum systems, including refugees from Ukraine and trans EU migrants relocating from increasingly hostile environments.

Over six months, Transparent will provide direct legal and social support, develop multilingual information resources, and engage key state institutions responsible for asylum and migration procedures. The project will also strengthen awareness among public authorities of their obligations towards trans refugees and migrants while advocating for the effective implementation of recent European Court of Justice rulings relevant to legal gender recognition, namely Deldits (2025) and Shipova ruling (2026). By combining individual support with policy advocacy, Transparent aims to improve access to rights and create more sustainable pathways for trans migrants and refugees seeking safety and recognition in Czechia.

Flirt – Front Transfem, France

As a transfeminist-led organisation, Flirt works through peer-led support, healthcare access, and community organising with a focus on transfeminine people facing social and institutional exclusion in France. Its work centres trans migrants, asylum seekers, sex workers, and racialised trans communities experiencing heightened barriers to rights and services.

The organisation combines community outreach, harm reduction, healthcare navigation, workshops, and partnerships with health and social actors. FLIRT´s work is grounded in community knowledge and evidence production. For example,  in 2024, they conducted a nationwide survey on trans health in France, which documented structural barriers in healthcare access, discrimination, and survival practices among trans people with a specific focus on racialised trans and migrant communities.

Their initiative Countering Anti-Trans Narratives Through Community Knowledge responds to escalating anti-trans and anti-migrant discourse in France and its direct impact on healthcare access, legal recognition, and social inclusion. It will deliver peer-led workshops for trans migrants and exiled trans people, focusing on political education, healthcare rights, and harm reduction. It will also collect community testimonies on the effects of discrimination and policy barriers, and translate these into multilingual educational and advocacy resources.

These outputs will strengthen community knowledge, counter misinformation, and support engagement with healthcare providers, civil society actors, and advocacy spaces.

Gruppo Trans, Italy

In a context where trans people in Italy continue to face barriers in education, healthcare, legal recognition, and everyday life, Gruppo Trans provides both practical support and a space for collective organising. Based in Bologna and led by trans people, the organisation combines community care, advocacy, and direct services to respond to the diverse realities of trans communities.

Its work includes support with LGR procedures, access to healthcare, counselling, and peer-led spaces that strengthen connection and mutual support. The organisation also engages in advocacy, strategic litigation, institutional training, and public education to challenge discrimination and advance the rights of trans people

Through their project, Common Grounds – Trans Rights, Intersectional Justice, Gruppo Trans will deliver a school-based education programme on gender and sexuality. At a time when these topics remain largely absent from Italian classrooms, the organisation will bring evidence-based and participatory learning into schools. The programme aims to challenge prejudice, counter misinformation, and create more inclusive environments for young people.

The project will also strengthen access to legal support, affirming healthcare, and counselling services. In addition, it will expand opportunities for community connection, cultural activities, and mutual aid. By combining education, direct support, and advocacy, Gruppo Trans is addressing immediate community needs while contributing to longer-term social change.

rede ex aequo, Portugal

As anti-rights actors intensify efforts to roll back protections for trans and intersex people in Portugal, rede ex aequo is bringing together activists, organisations, and allies to strengthen collective responses and reinforce trans rights advocacy across the country.

Founded in 2003, rede ex aequo is Portugal’s only national LGBTI youth organisation. Through community building, peer education, advocacy, and grassroots mobilisation, the organisation works to empower young LGBTI people and advance equality and non-discrimination.

Through the project, Gathering for Change, the organisation seeks to create spaces for collaboration, strategy development, and movement-building at a critical moment for trans rights in Portugal. Working collectively with two partners,  Plataforma TransParente and rede ex aequo will organise a National Gathering for Trans Rights, bringing together trans activists, LGBTI organisations, and allied social justice movements working on issues including feminism, anti-racism, disability rights, education, migration, health, and sex workers’ rights.

Alongside this, the organisation will host a National Encounter of Trans, Non-Binary and Gender-Questioning Youth, creating opportunities for young people to connect, learn, share experiences, and strengthen their participation in collective action. The project will also translate and adapt the recently produced TGEU toolkit and manifesto: In This Together – Strategic Messaging to Build Transfeminist Solidarity, expanding access to practical tools for coalition-building and advocacy. By strengthening connections across movements and supporting the next generation of trans activists, the initiative aims to build greater coordination, resilience, and collective capacity in the face of growing anti-rights opposition.

TransAkcija, Slovenia

TransAkcija is a trans-led organisation in Slovenia working to strengthen the rights, wellbeing, and social inclusion of trans and gender diverse people through psychosocial support, advocacy, research, and community organising. Its work focuses on improving access to support, producing knowledge on trans lived realities, and strengthening collective infrastructure for trans communities across the country.

The project Centering Trans Lives: Research, Support and Visibility in Slovenia responds to the need for more accessible, decentralised, and evidence-based trans support structures in Slovenia, particularly outside the capital and for trans migrants and non-Slovenian speakers.

It will strengthen national knowledge on trans lived experiences through updated research, expand psychosocial support through more structured and sustainable service provision, and pilot outreach activities in regions outside Ljubljana to improve geographical access to community support. The project will also develop multilingual information resources to improve accessibility for trans migrants and others facing language barriers.

Through these activities, TransAkcija aims to reinforce evidence-based advocacy, broaden access to support, and contribute to more decentralised and sustainable trans-led infrastructure in Slovenia.

These profound initiatives are part of ongoing trans-led organising, strategising and responding to community needs and challenges. They strengthen and sustain activists’ capacity to organise, care for each other in our communities, and build collective power to defend and advocate for our rights. Thus, TGEU is thrilled to be in partnership with these groups and looks forward to what we can achieve together.
