TGEU welcomes Juliane Rosin as new Executive Director
TGEU — Trans Europe and Central Asia is pleased to announce the appointment of Juliane Rosin (she/her) as its new Executive Director. Juliane will join the organisation in July 2026, bringing more than 15 years of experience in feminist and LGBTI civil society, organisational leadership, and international advocacy to support TGEU’s work to advance the rights and wellbeing of trans people across Europe and Central Asia.
Juliane has worked at a senior level in German and European civil society, including as Deputy Executive Director and Director of International Affairs of the National Council of German Women’s Organizations (Deutscher Frauenrat), where she contributed to organisational growth, strategic positioning, team development, and political advocacy at national, European, and international levels.
Her work has included managing complex organisational structures, working with boards and member-led governance, building coalitions, engaging donors and public institutions, and securing additional funding for civil society work. She has also worked across UN, EU, G7, and G20 advocacy spaces and brings strong experience in strengthening organisations in moments of political pressure and backlash.
Alongside her professional work, Juliane has been an activist working on the intersection of queer, lesbian* and human rights, including through her engagement with EL*C, Lesben*Ring, where she has supported strategic development, organisational strengthening, and fundraising.
Welcoming Juliane’s appointment, Isa Nico Borrelli, Chair of TGEU, said: “We are delighted to welcome Juliane to TGEU. She brings the leadership, experience and strategic vision that will help strengthen our organisation for the future.
“At a time when trans communities across Europe and Central Asia are facing unprecedented political attacks, shrinking civic space and increasing pressure on our movements, TGEU needs to be both resilient and ambitious. Juliane brings the strategic leadership and organisational experience that will help strengthen our organisation, while our members and elected Board continue to shape its political direction. We look forward to working with her to ensure TGEU remains a strong, trans-led and member-led voice for our communities.”
As Executive Director, Juliane will focus on strengthening TGEU’s organisational capacity, sustainability and delivery.
Commenting on her appointment, Juliane Rosin, Executive Director of TGEU, said: “I am honoured to be joining TGEU as Executive Director at such a significant moment for trans communities across Europe and Central Asia. TGEU has a unique role in supporting its members, strengthening the movement and advancing trans rights in the face of growing political challenges.
“I look forward to working closely with the Board, staff, members and partners as I listen, learn and deepen my understanding of the organisation. Together, we will build on TGEU’s strong foundations, strengthen the organisation for the future and support its mission across the region.”
As TGEU moves forward with this appointment, the upcoming TGEU Council in September represents a timely opportunity for members, staff and partners to come together, align around shared priorities, and collectively shape the path ahead. Together, we remain committed to ensuring the organisation stays member-led, politically ambitious, and well-positioned to meet the challenges facing trans communities across the region.
